And You WILL Eat Your Sprouts! by Sigune And You WILL Eat Your Sprouts! by Sigune
Drawn for deeply_horrible on LJ, a fest of which the motto is, "Bring Back the Bastard!" No fluffy Snapes allowed ;).

OF COURSE lots of commenters on LJ thought that the girl in the picture must be Hermione's daughter because she has curly hair. I cannot forbid you to think so, but - no. No, no, no. Nothing could have been further from my mind.

Staedtler pens and Pentel brush pen + Winsor & Newton watercolours on Daler-Rowney "Texture" cold-pressed paper (300 g/mē).

I absolutely love this scene here. As intimidating as Snape may be, to some children a plate full of sprouts is much worse!

Not surprisingly, I can totally sympathise with the situation - sprouts are one of the very few vegetables I really, really don't like :D... But I don't think I'd have the courage to refuse eating them when faced by a seething Snape myself ;).

Oh not me; I love, love, love sprouts!  What gets me however, is the cool and calm demeanor this young child keeps while facing down a very seriously threatening Snape.

Sprouts smell like feet!

;)

I used to participate in a very writerly roleplay in which I wrote Snape, and where I indulged in all my secret OC longings. Snape had a wife and children who held their own very well, even when faced with a glaring Severus, mostly because they were rather Snapeish themselves. I LOVED writing that story XD.

Sounds amazing. It's nice to think Snape had found someone else to fall in love with since he and Lilly weren't meant to be; and now that you mention it, the girl in the pic DOES look a lot like her dad.

You should give yourself a pat on the back for not only being a writer, but excellent artist as well.

I still like to write, but I let my drawing talents turn to rust and now arthritis is making it impossible to get back into properly. Yes, I'm THAT old.

Luckily for her, all the nutrition she refuses to eat can be put into a potion . . .

Unluckily, to teach her not to disobey, Snape would probably make it as horrible-tasting as possible!

For some reason this makes me think of what would've happened if Snape raised Harry. He'd probably be glaring at and threating Harry but Harry would be all stubborn and refuse to do what Snape tells him to do. Personally, I think Snape and Harry's relationship more interesting if it was like that in the books. Snape would yell at and insult Harry and but this wouldn't even phase Harry and he'd just be a annoying little imp. Poor Snape wouldn't know what to do, all he knows is how to intimate and be mean but Harry doesn't even care.

Classic illustration style that I love so well. Her little eye brows are up. She isn't happy to be going toe to toe with the old man, but she does not seem likely to give in either.

I was thinking "humorously horrible" ;). The Snapeling isn't going to obey; she drives her father up the wall sometimes. I kind of feel for both of them :P.

As for Snermione - well, I guess that if I were to imagine a daughter for Snape and Hermione (which I so would not - *grins*), it wouldn't be this one. But, freedom of interpretation and all that.

I saw this at deeply_horrible ages ago. If I may ask: Who is the little one's mother? (I admit, I thought Hermione when I first saw her hair.)

Just from this picture, I'd say Snape's gonna have his hands full with her.

Her mother is, um, my OFC. Sorry. *grins* This is the one: sigune.deviantart.com/art/Mour… - you see where the child's hair comes from...

Snape reaps what he sows, if you ask me ;).

Hey, if we can't create OFCs, then fanfiction ain't worth the time or effort we put into it. :-) (I have an OFC myself: Chase, who is Snape's niece and also his ward. I first came up with her when I was about 15, and then put her in a story that actually worked when I was... 21? 22? Something like that. Still writing it. Anyway, the little girl in the pic reminds me so much of Chase at that age, it's a little scary.)

Lol! Great drawing! I love how the little girl is not intimidated at all by Snape's threatening stance, just calmly "no, I'm *not* eating this". It's clear that she can hold her own against him, and he'll lose that battle. :D

Who is the girl's mother, if it's not Hermione?

Mmm... sprouts... just scooped some into my soup. Well, I have to admit, I've never eaten JUST sprouts - they have always made a nice addition to the soup.
But the picture is very expressive - a strict father and afraid-of-no-one stubborn little girl. Well, as a kindergarten teacher I just imagined him as a kindergarten teacher "encouraging" picky children to eat. :D Well. we never do it like this, but imagining this is still funny.
Or, I imagine Snape as being "supernanny" to a wild and ill-mannered little girl, who desperately needs someone to set some borders to her.

By the way, who is this child?

Hahaha, brilliant! I would have thought that Snape as a father would have other means to intimidate his kids/ get them to do what he wants to, but this is very plausible as well!
And all those butttons! *drools*

Oh, all bets are off on Snape's approach to education, I think - except physically hurting the child or shouting at her. Baring his teeth, though...

Glad you like it! :D

*points at artist commentary*

Never, never, NEVER Snermione in my drawings! - Okay, I did one Snermione once upon a time, because someone pressured me into it, but I couldn't stand it and it shows in the art too :P.

Your estimation of the girl's character is *entirely* correct though ;). She resembled her father more than he would like...
